The UPWr Doctoral School has begun recruiting for the 2022/2023 academic year. Over 70 supervisors and 80 research topics are waiting for candidates. The recruitment will last until May 30, 2022.

The Doctoral School of the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences is closely connected with Leading Research Groups, which leaders and members are supervisors of doctoral theses written at the school, and together with a doctoral students’ representative form the Doctoral School Council. Two years after its formation, the Doctoral School and its doctoral students are undergoing evaluation.

Bioeconomy is our future, also on the job market. That's why Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences (UPWr) together with Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (WUST) open English-language studies in Bioeconomy. The agreement on the joint degree programme was signed on Monday by the rectors of both Wroclaw universities – Prof. Jaroslaw Bosy and Prof. Arkadiusz Wójs.

Jacek Łyczko, a doctoral student at the Department of Chemistry, UPWr, received a nearly 1.5 million grant from the National Centre for Research and Development to create a new generation of appetite-regulating agents. For this purpose he will use natural and safe fragrances.

Dr. Habiba Khalid, an adiunkt assistant professor from Pakistan, is working alongside Prof. Andrzej Białowiec on research aimed at enhancing biomethane production from biowaste, a key area in renewable energy that holds significant promise for sustainable environmental management.

The history and traditions of UPWr go back to a pair of famous colleges: the Dublany Agricultural College and the Veterinary College in Lviv. However, its independent history began in 1951 when the Academy of Agriculture was established.

Nigerian scientist, Dr Chinenye Adaobi Igwegbe, has come to UPWr for scientific exchange as part of the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) programme. Together with Prof Białowiec, she is exploring the possibilities of upcycling phosphorus, compounds that can be used, among other things, for the production of ceramics.
