The Excellence Initiative – Research University

"Excellence Initiative – Research University" is a competition of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the aim of which is to raise the level of scientific activity and quality of education at Polish universities and, as a consequence, increase their international significance. The competition leads to increased financing of selected universities from the state budget.

The University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wrocław was the only agricultural and life university among the twenty universities which qualified for the first edition of the program in 2019. The competition applications were evaluated by outstanding scientists from renowned international research centres and the world of business.

UPWr got twelfth place and received a 2 percent increase in subsidies (over 3 million PLN) for its activities in the next 6 years.
