UPWr strategy

The mission of UPWr is to promote scientific excellence that will lead to the achievement of global goals connected with sustainable development, such as:

  • ensuring a healthy life and promoting well-being regardless of age (Veterinary Science),
  • ending hunger, ensuring food security and better nutrition, and promoting sustainable agriculture (Food Science and Technology);
  • providing sustainable consumption and production patterns, taking urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts, ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation (Environment Science).

The tools for the implementation of the UPWr mission are: international cooperation, ground-breaking research and integration with strategic goals of the economy.

UPWr activities result from the consistently implemented development strategy, carried out since 2013 and based on three main fields of activity:

  • Establishment of Leading Research Groups (WZB),
  • Creation of a Doctoral School (SD) and increasing the competence of administration,
  • Establishment of the Centre for Innovative Technologies (CIT).

The development strategy under the "Excellence Initiative – Research University" program is therefore a natural continuation of previously planned activities and implementation of strategic goals adopted by UPWr.

The UPWr Plan for Achieving Scientific Excellence is based on three main pillars:

  1. Strengthening international cooperation and increasing the impact of Leading Research Groups,
  2. Improving the quality of education and professional development,
  3. Increasing the operational excellence of the University’s administration.

The main goal of UPWr is to build an effective international platform for carrying out ground-breaking scientific research.
