Internationalisation of the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences is an important element of the strategy of development at our University.

The University follows the procedures of the Bolonia process by offering top standard education for the students at Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD levels who are given an opportunity to benefit from study abroad programmes and international traineeships allowing them to enrich their knowledge and practical skills, language and social competences in European and global dimension.

The European Commission has awarded the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences with the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2021-2027, the principles of which are strictly respected.

The University provides its students and staff, including those with low income and the disabled with equal opportunities to make the best of their participation in international study programmes, traineeships and professional development schemes.

Full recognition is ensured for satisfactorily completed activities of study mobility in terms of credits (ECTS) awarded. The activities of satisfactorily completed study and/traineeships mobility activities are included in the final record of student achievement (Diploma Supplement).

The activities of the University undertaken within the ERASMUS+ programme are administered by the Erasmus+ Office, a unit of the International Relations Office.

Vice-Rector, who is the legal representative, is authorised to sign the Inter-institutional Agreements and in charge of international educational projects, including the ERASMUS+ programme.

The Inter-institutional Agreements are signed with higher education institutions offering courses being in line with the study programmes offered at our university.

The ECTS system has been implemented at each faculty, for all the students at bachelor’s-master’s–doctoral level. Full recognition of the study period abroad is ensured for all the students who have successfully completed a semester/year abroad in compliance with the Learning/Training Agreement signed before the mobility. Changes to the Learning Agreement are possible, but it is required that they are accepted by the respective faculty within a month after the semester begins. The study/training period abroad of all outgoing students is fully recognized and indicated in the Diploma Supplement. Incoming students receive their Transcript of Records upon departure or after sitting the last exam. All incoming students are offered accommodation in one of the dormitories operated by the University.

The Erasmus office collaborates with the President and members of the Erasmus Student Network who organise orientation days, a buddy system, cultural and integration activities.

The University is open to all students, irrespective of their ethnic, social, cultural and ideological background and the activities pursued at the University are in agreement with the Charter of Fundamental Right of the European Union. The study/training period abroad is indicated in the Diploma Supplement issued to each student in Polish and English.

The strategy of internationalisation at the University is aimed at:

  • attracting talented students from EU and non EU countries, with a special focus on developing partner countries,
  • developing partnerships with other institutions, especially enterprises regarding teaching and learning,
  • creating an international environment for our students (“internationalisation at home”),
  • providing students with more opportunities to have a learning experience abroad,
  • attracting researchers and staff from other HEIs and enterprises in different countries,
  • providing academic and administrative staff with opportunities of professional development in other countries.

The ongoing modernisation of the University buildings, laboratories and equipment is aimed at improving the quality of teaching/learning, and consequently, graduates’ employability, position of the University in national and international rankings as well as its recognition in Europe and beyond.

Internationalisation is an important element of the UPWr's strategy, with special focus on student and staff mobility, participation in educational and research programmes, networking, membership in European associations and organisations and collaborative links with stakeholders.

Teaching at the University is research-based. Research studies are conducted in collaboration with EU and non-EU partner institutions, also those located on other continents (e.g. in China). Consequently, partner institutions are chosen and approved by the academics based on scientific links and by the Vice-Rector for International Relations and Regional Cooperation.

The renewal of the existing Bilateral Agreements depends on the activities performed in previous years. New Bilateral Agreements are signed with the universities in European and non-European countries showing their interest in cooperation regarding student and staff mobility and training. It is vital for the University to attract students from and outside the EU to pursue their studies at bachelor's-master's-doctoral levels at the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences. For this reason, the offer of courses taught in English has been developed and the list is steadily increasing.

It is equally important to extend the offer of the degree courses in various modes of study (e.g. part-time). Implementation of e-learning and blended learning, which has already been launched, shall be continued and developed, so that the exploitation of ICT potential shall be more effective and made available also to disabled students. Learning mobility and professional staff development are envisaged as an added value to cross-border cooperation and exchange schemes, provided they meet the quality criteria as described in the Study Regulations and the Statute of the University.

The infrastructure of the University is improved continuously, so that both the staff and the students have access to cutting-edge facilities and equipment allowing them to teach, learn and conduct research studies using advanced technologies, the dissemination of which should have a positive impact on the promotion of the University and consequently on attracting students from different countries across Europe and beyond, at bachelor’s-master’s-doctoral level, to pursue their studies at the UPWr. The academics and administrative staff receive respective support from the university enabling them to participate in international educational and research programmes, including the mobility schemes. Academics and entrepreneurs from other countries are invited to deliver lectures and bring the internationalisation closer to those who for different reasons cannot benefit from the exchange programmes.

Study programmes for the students at each level are developed and/or restructured with the assistance of external entrepreneurs representing stakeholders in the respective discipline in order to build effective links between education, research and business. Integration of the educational offer at the University with placements offered by the EIT+, the Technological Park and international centres/institutions/organisations is expected to bring talented students and staff into innovative environments allowing them to acquire advanced skills indispensable for knowledge-intensive jobs and research.

The strategy of internationalisation at our University is aimed at attracting students from abroad at each level of study, developing partnerships with other institutions regarding teaching and learning, creating an international environment for our students (“internationalisation at home”), providing our students with more opportunities to have a learning experience abroad, attracting researchers and staff from other countries, providing our staff with opportunities to go abroad. The ongoing modernisation of the University buildings, laboratories and equipment is aimed at improving internationalisation, and consequently, our position in national and international rankings.
