ScienceNet

Project title: Interdisciplinary international cooperation as the key to excellence in science and education (ScienceNet)
Duration: 01.01.2020 – 30.09.2022
Project Budget: 1 995 240 PLN
Budget for UPWr (role): 1 995 240 PLN (Leader)
Project Coordinator: prof. dr hab. Wojciech Niżański

The aim of the project is to create an international network, the main pillar of which will be the Uni-versity of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wrocław. The partners are leading research centers of world-wide renown: Ghent University (Belgium), University of Milan (Italy), Iowa State University of Science and Technology (USA), University of Bath (Great Britain), L'École Nationale Vétérinaire d'Al-fort (France), University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna (Austria), University of Padova (Italy).

Consolidation will be based on three pillars: scientific exchange of staff, joint research and the organi-zation of training.

The cooperation under the NAWA project will concern a wide area of veterinary medicine - both reproductive biology, research on biosecurity in the context of drug residues, safety of food of animal origin (drug resistance of bacteria, especially staphylococci), oxidative stress in metabolic and cardiological diseases and veterinary oncology.

The target group of the project are young academics with significant research achievements, doctoral students, second and third degree students and members of research clubs.

The expected results and benefits of the ScienceNet project include increasing the competences of doctoral students and young researchers, which will contribute to an increase in the number of publications and the preparation of a joint project application in H2020 or other international programs. The longterm effect of the project is to create a European Research Platform on the Application of Assisted Reproduction Techniques in Biomedical Research and Rescuing Endangered Animal Species - it would unite the efforts of scientists from various countries working on the implementation of ad-vanced biotechnology of reproduction to protect the biodiversity of endangered wild animals.
