Abstract:

TWIN-Waters aims to develop digital tools for sustainable water resources management by integrating the impact of change of climate, land use, and optimised solutions. Our goal is to collaborate and leverage our latest developments and innovations to enhance the resilience and liveable city and ecosystem services against future climate challenges, particularly regarding downstream water quality issues like eutrophication, harmful algal blooms, and pathogenic contamination. These problems should be integrated in urban flood modelling and water contamination using 3D GIS visualization technology, advanced process-based modelling, and machine learning (ML) for water quality prediction. The integration can later be expanded to other quantity and quality aspects of water management. The final product from TWIN-Waters is a uniform system for utilizing digital tools in practical applications whilst allowing versatility and adjustments. This involves utilizing digital tools in diverse situations, including incorporating data-driven methods into catchment scale modelling or combining single technology applications with others.
