Dr Aleksandra Wdowczyk from the Department of Environmental Design and Protection has won funding for her preliminary research into the treatment of leachate from municipal landfills in plant-based activated sludge systems. PLN 43,771 was awarded to her in the Miniatura 7 competition.

In the latest edition of the Pearls of Science program, funded by the Ministry of Education and Science, two PhD candidates from the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences have received financial support for their innovative research. Katarzyna Leicht and Aleksandra Hendrysiak have distinguished themselves with projects that have significant potential impact on the development of both science and the food industry.

Scientists from the University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wrocław have obtained almost three million zlotys for their research in the OPUS 20 program of the National Science Centre. Grants have been awarded to Piotr Stępień, PhD, Jarosław Waroszewski, PhD, and Prof. Robert Kupczyński.

We present another five projects covering, among others, airborne laser scanning, research on human mobility, the influence of microorganisms on polyphenolic compounds and changes in Icelandic soil.

Beatriz Hernández Suárez is a PhD student at UPWr’s Doctoral School. She came to Poland to continue her studies on the invitation of her supervisor – professor Aleksandra Pawlak. Beatriz is currently studying molecular biology, focusing on finding new targets in anticancer therapy.
