The first Polish bio-nanosatellite is already in space. On 28 January, SatRevolution announced that at 10:24 am a contact was established. Scientists from the UPWr have sent common Fusarium culmorum fungi into space. They intend to check how they will cope with the absence of gravity.

Only the 34 best were selected out of 350 submitted projects, and Doctor Marta Kuźmińska-Bajor from the University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wrocław was among those awarded. She received a money prize in the LIDER programme for research on bacteriophages which could replace antibiotics in treating, among others, Salmonella.

NAWA – the National Agency for Academic Exchange, has granted funding under the STER programme for the Internationalisation of Doctoral Schools. The Doctoral School of the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences came in third place among 16 institutions, receiving over PLN 2 million in funding.

Five scientists from the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences received grants within the National Science Centre competition – Opus 15. Their combined value is almost 4 million PLN.

Over PLN 2.6 million will be allocated to UPWr scientists for research under grants awarded in the National Science Center PRELUDIUM BIS 4 competition. The funded projects will contribute to increasing food safety, improving methods of prevention and treatment of salmonellosis and the use of yeast in biofuel production, among other things.
