Wojciech Niżański, professor

He was graduated in veterinary medicine in year 1992. The doctoral thesis entitled: ‘Investigation on the semen preservation in low temperatures’ he defended in 1999 and habilitation concerning ‘The relationship between the effectiveness of the artificial insemination and in vitro semen characteristics in dogs’ he defended in 2009. From 2009 onwards he became the head of the Department of Reproduction and Clinic of Farm Animals, at Veterinary Medicine in Wroclaw. He obtained a title of professor in 2014. He is a certified specialist of animal reproduction.

He is an active clinician mostly working on artificial insemination, reproductive disorders in males and females, obstetrics, neonatology and assisted reproductive techniques. He published over 200 papers intended for scientists and practicing veterinarians. He was the leader in 12 research projects financed from the external sources and the investigator in many others.

He is an active member in international organisations, e.g. of European Veterinary Society for Small Animal Reproduction (EVSSAR), where he was a former President; Board Member and Editor and he is a current EVSSAR Representative in Poland. He is also a member in Polish Society for Biology of Reproduction (Member of the Board), Polish Society of Veterinary Science (former Treasurer of Wroclaw Division) and Polish Academy of Science (member of Committee for Biology of Reproduction, Committee of Veterinary Sciences, former head of Section of Pathology of Reproduction).

He is an valued speaker and workshops’ master during many congresses worldwide (e.g. in Budapest, Estoril, Milan, Berlin, Hanover, Moscow, Oslo, Cordoba, Ghent, Whistler), as well as during various conferences in the country.

Jan Twardoń, professor

He was graduated in veterinary medicine in year 1978, immediately after studies he started working at the Department of Reproduction and Clinic of Farm Animals, were he obtained a title of a professor in 2002. In 2003 he was certified as Animal Reproduction Specialist and in 2014 as Ruminants Specialist.

He is a practicing veterinarian controlling the reproductive performance in several dairy farms. His scientific interests focus on the physiology and pathology of reproduction and udder health in farm animals. He underwent many national and international internships e.g. in Germany, France and Switzerland.

He was a leader investigator in several scientific projects and he published over 220 papers and supervised 9 PhD thesis, having next 2 ongoing. He is a joined author of 3 manuals.  

He is also an active member in University’s Committees and a board member of some national organisations (Committee for Biology of Reproduction, Committee of Veterinary Sciences PAN, Polish Buiatric Society). He is also a head of Postgraduate Course for Animal Reproduction and Ruminants Diseases.


Michał Dzięcioł, University professor

He was graduated in veterinary medicine in year 1998, and in 2002 he was certified as Animal Reproduction Specialist. He defended his PhD thesis in 2004 r. and habilitation titled: ‘Semiochemical communication in dogs (Canis familiaris) concerning reproductive behaviour’ in 2015.

His scientific interests concentrate on vascular flow within female and male reproductive organ (its physiology and ways to modify the blood flow) and semiochemical communication especially sexual pheromones in domestic animals.

He was an active member of many scientific projects and was a leader investigator of one of them financed by external means and concerning the bioelectric activity on rams’ brain during the "ewe effect".

He was in Muenich and Dublin for the scientific internships.

He is a member of Polish Society for Biology of Reproduction  and in years  2013-2017 he was a treasurer in Wroclaw Division.


Agnieszka Partyka, University professor

She was graduated in biology and defended her Phd thesis at Wroclaw University in 2009 receiving the title of doctor of biology (specialist in biotechnology) and she received the title of doctor in biology. She became a member of the team in 2010 , and since 2015 she became a junior researcher at the Department of Reproduction.

Her scientific interests concern mostly andrology, molecular aspects of animal reproduction, use of biotechniques and avian reproductive biology. She was researcher in many scientific projects and the leader researcher of two projects financed by Ministry of Science and concerning the rooster semen.

She has been to Germany, Belgium, France and Spain for scientific visits and participated in several courses on flow cytometry, molecular techniques and biotechniques. 

She is a member of Polish Society for Biology of Reproduction and she was a secretary of the Wrocław Division of Polish Society for Biology of Reproduction in 2009-2011 and 2011-2013.

Małgorzata Ochota, University professor

She was graduated from Veterinary Medicine in 1999, and her PhD thesis she defended in 2004, from 2009 she works in Department of Reproduction. 

Scientific interests focus on assisted reproductive techniques in companion animals, especially cats, and in clinical work, she is primarily involved in reproductive system surgery, obstetrics and veterinary neonatology.

She was part of a team in many scientific projects and she was a leader investigator in one – investigating embryo vitrification in cats. She gained professional experience and practical skills during internships in Germany, Belgium and United Kingdom and attending workshops and conferences.  

She is a member of EVSAR, BSAVA and Polish Society for Biology of Reproduction.

Sylwia Prochowska, assistant professor with the degree of doctor habilitated

She was graduated from Veterinary Medicine in 2012 and defended her PhD in 2017 and in the same year she was employed at Department of Reproduction.

She specialises in andrology and cats reproduction, especially in assisted reproductive techniques in cats i.e. semen cryopreservation and artificial insemination.

She gained professional experience and practical skills during internships (Germany, Belgium, France) as well as national conferences and workshops.

Member of EVSSAR and Polish Society for Biology of Reproduction, where she was nominated a treasurer of Wrocław Division in 2017 onwards.

Non-scientific interests: sport (running, skating, skiing, swimming), mountain hiking, literature, traveling
