Three scientists from the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences have been awarded scholarships from the Foundation for Polish Science.

Next grants from the Miniatura 4 programme have been awarded to Joanna Bajzert PhD and Agnieszka Żak PhD from the Department of Immunology, Pathophysiology and Veterinary Preventive Medicine, as well as Dominika Kulig PhD and Żaneta Król-Kilińska PhD from the Department of Functional Food Products Development.

The international project ENVIRE, in which Dr. Marta Kuźmińska-Bajor and her team are participating, has received funding under the JPI-AMR Action Call 2021 programme. Scientists are to study drug resistance of bacteria that appear on poultry farms, and look for solutions to limit its existence.

Doctor Jarosław Waroszewski from the Institute of Soil Sciences and Environmental Protection received a grant from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education – for outstanding young researchers. In his work he analyzes how loess deposits in soils changes their development.

Three PhD students from Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences just got a reason to celebrate. Dariusz Strugarek won a scholarship, and Daria Marczak and Michał Dudek received honourable mentions for their outstanding achievements in their fields of study in this year’s Student Scholarship Programme.

Not only is the Wrocław functional area able to meet the local vegetarian food needs of its inhabitants, but it even has surpluses to share. Not all of the centres studied at the University of Environmental and Life Sciences have this capacity. The results show that European cities have a problem with self-sufficiency.

Professor Wojciech Niżański, chairman of the Discipline Council for Veterinary Science: – We are looking for the best candidates for our Doctoral School, but we are also "presenting" ourselves as supervisors. Dr. Katarzyna Patejuk, Dr. Joanna Tunikowska, and Dr. Błażej Nowak have received nearly 140,000 PLN from the National Science Centre as part of the MINIATURA 7 competition. This grant will enable their research on new fungal species, an innovative method for treating tumors, and the genetic basis of stillbirths in sows.
