Agnieszka Krawczyk-Łebek from the Department of Food Chemistry and Biocatalysis of the UPWr, together with her scientific supervisors – Prof. Edyta Kostrzewa-Susłow, Dr. Tomasz Janeczko and Dr. Monika Dymarska, has won the main prize in the 12th edition of the Student-Inventor competition. Her series of 38 inventions concerning new flavonoid glycosides with potential antimicrobial activity was recognised in the competition. The prize is participation in the International Exhibition of Inventions

The Książ Castle Gardens in the 1870s were designed by Eduard Neide, the director of the Royal Gardens Tiergarten in Berlin – this is the latest discovery by UPWr scientists who have been researching the history of this site for several years.

For the second time we have awarded diplomas and medals to the best beers taking part in the Good Beer Academy competition. Jury was headed by Rafał Kowalczyk, an international judge who emphasized a high standard of the competition where over 80 beers were evaluated.

Poland uses only 25% of its potential for hydropower. We still underestimate the importance of water as a source of energy – believes Prof. Robert Kasperek from the Institute of Environmental Engineering at UPWr. – And increasing the share of hydroelectric power by even a few percent would improve the country's energy security.
