Admission calendar for the academic year 2022/23:

Stage 0 (applies only to graduates of first-cycle studies, who demonstrate the highest quality of scientific achievements - detailed description of the stage below)
- May 6th - deadline for submitting documents (by e-mail: szkola.doktorska@upwr.edu.pl)
- May 18th - deadline for completing missing documents
- May 23rd - evaluation of documents
- May 25th - announcement of the results
- May 25th-30th - registration in the Dream Apply system, payment of recruitment fees


Stage I
- April 4th - opening of the registration in the Dream Apply system, the acceptance of documents begins. Attention: both steps should be completed: (1) registration in the Dream Apply system and (2) sending documents by e-mail to szkola.doktorska@upwr.edu.pl in the form of scans. Title of the email: admission 2022/23 - name and surname. 
- May 30th - deadline for submitting documents, deadline for payment of recruitment fees (please note that application is not considered without paid recruitment fee), closing of the registration in the Dream Apply system
- June 10th - deadline for completing missing documents
- June 13th-15th - evaluation of documents


Stage II 
- June 20th-24th - interviews


- July 8th - announcement of the results

Criteria

Above mentioned candidates submit an official request to the Recruitment Committee for the permission to take part in admission process.

Candidates can be granted the permission to pass to the 1st stage of admission if they obtain a positive evaluation of their scientific achievements. Documents confirming scientific achievements must be attached to the official request.

The Recruitment Committee assesses scientific achievements according to the following criteria:

  • authorship or co-authorship of scientific publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals of at least national scope or scientific publications in the form of a book (in case of publications, please write journal's score from the current ministerial list of journals);
  • participation in research projects conducted by a research unit in cooperation with other research units or partners from the socio-economic environment;
  • authorship or co-authorship of a patent or utility model;
  • reports at scientific conferences;
  • awards in international competitions;
  • active participation in the work of the university research club (koło naukowe);
  • participation in international programs realized as part of international scientific or didactic cooperation between universities;
  • participation in internships abroad.

The candidate’s assessment is based on the documented achievements stated in the Candidate’s Card.*

2.0 Unsatisfactory/insufficient – fail, some more work required before the credit can be awarded D, F F

Required documents

  1. Application form downloaded from https://apply.upwr.edu.pl/en_PL after submission of the application.
  2. Photo (face should take 70-80% of the photo, light background, good quality of the picture, face should be clearly visible).
  3. Candidate’s graduation diploma for a 2nd cycle study programme or unified Master’s degree programme affixed with an apostille (or legalised) and translated into English or Polish (detailed requirements) – more information
    Note: if the candidate doesn’t manage to obtain apostille or legalisation of the diploma in the time of online recruitment it obligatory to have it done before enrolling to the UPWr Doctoral School. Failing to do so will result in expelling the candidate from the students’ list
  4. Supervisor’s references
  5. Language certificate confirming English knowledge: 

    - IELTS, at least level B2;

    - TOEFL, at least level B2;

    - Cambridge B2 First, C1 Advanced, C2 Proficiency (former FCE, CAE, CPE);

    - a document from your university certifying the language of instruction was English;

    - a document from your university certifying that you have passed English language exam on B2 level during your studies.

  6. Candidate’s Card, which constitutes an appendix to this resolution, enclosed with documents confirming stated achievements.*
  7. Consent for acceptance of the potential PhD supervisor from the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences (scan of e-mail)
  8. Confirmation of paying the recruitment fee in the amount of 200 PLN or 50 EUR. For candidates from developing countries according to the OECD list, the recruitment fee is 20 EUR. Application fee is non-refundable. Payment transfer title: first name surname, Doctoral School recruitment, D012/0005/21.

Model statements confirming the achievements stated in the Candidate’s Card

  1. Statement: active participation in a research or R&D project financed form external sources, e.g. NCN, NCBR, H2020 before the day of submission of the application to the Doctoral School.
  2. Statement: participation in the activities of a science club.
  3. Statement: participation in a foreign academic training programme of at least 4 weeks.
  4. Statement: participation in a research or R&D project financed from external sources (e.g. NCN, NCBR, H2020) and the completion of the main assumptions of the PhD dissertation written as part of this project – points are given provided the candidate’s participation in the project lasts for at least 12 months starting from 1 October of the year when the recruitment procedure takes place.
  • June 20-24, 2022 – interviews
  • July 8, 2022 – announcement of results

Interview – oral presentation on the subject of the future PhD dissertation and the applicant’s scientific interests. The interview may be conducted in English on condition that it will be in accordance with B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Interviews with candidates will have the form of a videoconference (e.g. Skype).

The recruitment commission is obliged to adapt the recruitment procedure to the needs of a candidate with a disability on the basis of a disabled person identification card or a document/opinion issued by a relevant specialist outpatient clinic.

A candidate with a disability should inform the recruitment commission of the necessity of adapting the recruitment process to their needs not later than seven working days before the start of the recruitment. A document proving the disability should be submitted with the application.
