Education step by step

The Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences runs an interdisciplinary, international Doctoral School. Education lasts 4 years and ends with obtaining the academic title of doctor in a given discipline. Below we present the various stages of education.

  1. Regulations and the DS program
Make sure you are familiar with the regulations of the Doctoral School and the program of the Doctoral School. The relevant legal acts can be found in the Programme and rules tab. It is important that you know what requirements are related to studying at the Doctoral School.
  2. Appointment of a supervisor
The supervisor is appointed by the relevant Discipline Council within 3 months of admitting the doctoral student to the Doctoral School. For this purpose, you must submit the required documents to the Doctoral School Office by October 15th. The documents are then forwarded to the individual Discipline Councils within which the education is conducted. Application templates can be found in the forms.
  3. Performing examinations by the occupational medicine physician
Persons admitted to the Doctoral School are required to submit a certificate from an occupational medicine doctor to the Doctoral School Office before the beginning of the academic year. You will receive a referral for examination at the Doctoral School Office.
  4. Setting up a UPWr mail account
To set up an e-mail address of UPWr, see the instructions.
  5. Doctoral student grant
The doctoral student voucher is a one-off research funding granted by UPWr. The amount of the grant may be up to PLN 20,000. If you are applying for a PhD student grant, make sure you meet the conditions of the program and read the application submission instructions.
  6. Financial resources for the support of scientific activities
As a doctoral student at UPWr, you can apply for funding for your university as part of financial resources intended to support scientific activities. Funds can be spent on: participation in specialized training, workshop or summer/winter school, participation in international foreign scientific conferences; one-time increase in the amount of the doctoral scholarship. Find out more in the funding tab.
  7. Individual PhD Student Card
After each semester of training, a report on the results of the work should be presented. For this purpose, the doctoral student submits the Individual Doctoral Student Cards to the Doctoral School Office. The card templates can be found in the forms.
  8. Individual Research Plan (IRP)
The Individual Research Plan (IRB) is submitted to the Board of the Doctoral School within 12 months of admitting the doctoral student to the Doctoral School. The relevant applications can be found in the forms tab.
  1. Mid-term evaluation
The progress of IRP implementation is verified in the middle of the education period at the Doctoral School. Receiving negative assessment results in removal from the list of doctoral students of the UPWr Doctoral School.
More details can be found in the mid-term evaluation tab.
