UPWr scientists in the TOP 2 ranking of the world's most influential scientists

Elsevier publishing house has published a ranking of the world's most cited scientists. Representatives of the University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wrocław are among the 200,000 most influential authors of scientific publications.

The TOP 2 ranking presents 200,000 scientists with the greatest achievements in the world – a mere 2 percent. Hence its name.
Four UPWr scientists were ranked for their overall achievements.
The TOP 2 ranking for 2021 includes a total of seven scientists from the University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wrocław.

Ranking methodology

The authors of the ranking argue that the citation metrics are widely used, although not free from misuse. Emerging phenomena such as self-citation and citation farms (groups of authors quoting each other) lead to an over-interpretation of the indicators responsible for a scientist's influence or excellence. The methodology analyses, among other things, as well as the number of citations, the Hirsch index, co-authorship, the ratio of citations to published articles, and its detailed nature ensure that the ranking is as objective as possible. The top 2 percent of scientists from around the world make it to the final lists.
