XXVIII International Conference of Student Scientific Clubs at UPWr
On April 25, the 28th International Conference of Student Scientific Clubs was held at the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences.
In his speech, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education, Prof. Damian Knecht, assured the audience of the students' activity and their unwavering commitment to the Student Scientific Clubs' (SKN) actions. – The rumors about students' passivity or shifting priorities are somewhat exaggerated. We continually meet new generations of fantastic young people, some of whom are present here – assured the Vice-Rector.
46 scientific clubs operate at the university. Additionally, students can pursue their passions in organizations and creative groups such as the UPWr Choir, the Academic Sports Association, or the Academic Tourism Club.
Prof. Knecht opened the event with gratitude to the guests from partner universities. Representatives from the University of Life Sciences in Poznań, the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin, and the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków attended the conference. This event, held at UPWr for the 28th time, provides a space for exchange, forming new connections, and experiencing mutual inspiration among young scientists.
During the official opening of the conference, Prof. Adam Roman held a lecture on "The Phenomenon of the Honey Bee – Facts and Myths," introducing listeners to the fascinating world of pollinators, often distorted in animated films. Prof. Roman discussed, among other things, the possibility of training bees to locate explosives and drugs, highlighting the extraordinary sense of smell of these hardworking insects.
At this year's event, participants presented papers and posters in several sections: agrotechnical, economic, ecology and environmental protection, biology, animal husbandry, biotechnology, food technology and human nutrition, veterinary medicine (which was further divided into clinical and basic sciences sections), and popular science. Papers were also presented in the sections on spatial management and landscape architecture, as well as environmental engineering and geodesy.
