UPWr Among the Top in THE Impact Rankings

For the third time, the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences has been featured in the prestigious British THE Impact Ranking, which assesses whether and to what extent universities worldwide are implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) announced by the United Nations in 2015.

THE Impact Rankings is a global university ranking that has evaluated universities' contributions to sustainable development since 2019 through research, education, and various activities. The ranking is based on the 17 SDGs established by the UN. Universities are assessed in 17 separate categories and one overall classification. This year's edition saw the participation of 2,031 universities from around the world, an increase of 440 compared to last year. This shows the growing importance of the ranking and the increasing commitment to achieving the SDGs, at least within the academic community. Universities from 121 countries and regions, including 25 from Poland, took part in the sixth edition of this ranking.

UPWr above the global median

The Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences has been steadily climbing the ranking for three years. This year, with a score of 69.5, the university is ranked 601-800. Similar to last year, UPWr participated in five categories: Goal 2 "Zero Hunger," Goal 11 "Sustainable Cities and Communities," Goal 15 "Life on Land," Goal 8 "Decent Work and Economic Growth," and the mandatory Goal 17 "Partnerships for the Goals."

UPWr's growing achievements

On the path to sustainable development

In both Goal 2 "Zero Hunger" and Goal 11 "Sustainable Cities and Communities," UPWr ranks 1st in Poland, similar to last year. In practice, for Goal 2, this means the implementation of the FoodSHIFT 2023 project, initiatives such as Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), and food, soil, and water research conducted by UPWr experts. Goal 11 focuses on numerous studies and analyses related to the smart city concept and the quality of life for seniors in large cities, conducted by our scientists, as well as supporting regional heritage and local activities.impact_2024-1.png
