UPWr among the best universities in Europe, and the world, in two prestigious rankings

The Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences has been consistently climbing up in one of the most important world rankings, the THE World University Rankings. We also ranked high in the first edition of the QS World University Rankings focused exclusively on universities in Europe.

Early autumn is when the results of the most prestigious rankings are published, for which universities work hard all year round. The Times Higher Education ranking is a compilation of the world's best universities with a particular emphasis on the university's mission of research. THE assesses universities in terms of teaching (learning environment), rank, income, citation, and reputation of research conducted and knowledge transfer and international outlook. The ranking uses 13 calibrated performance indicators.

Quacquarelli Symonds has been publishing rankings for twenty years. Initially, there were editions covering all universities worldwide, but regional editions or editions specialising in a particular field, such as sustainability, have also emerged over time. This year, for the first time, an edition was published that ranked only European universities by region.

THE World University Rankings – UPWr scores ever higher

THE World University Rankings are generated based on five pillars, each representing a key area of excellence in higher education. These are teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook. In all of these fields, the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences has been recording increasingly high rankings, but it has made the biggest rise in the industry category. This year, the university is ranked 1201-1500 in the world in the overall ranking, thus maintaining its position from a year ago. It ranks 15th in the country with a score of 22.8 - 28.2, while among natural science universities, it is on the podium together with SGGW and the University of Life Sciences in Poznań.

QS Europe – high student mobility

The first edition of the QS World University Rankings Europe included 690 universities from across Europe. The Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences was ranked 496th overall, and 68th in the Eastern European list. It ranks fourth among natural science universities in Poland.

UPWr records the highest results in the faculty-student ratio, which measures the ratio of academic staff to students. A higher number of academic staff per student reflects the commitment of the institution's resources to its teaching mission. In this respect, UPWr ranks 14th in Poland and 161st in Europe.

The Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences also ranks high in the indicators for inbound and outbound exchange students, which shows the very high mobility of our students compared to other European countries. Here we are ranked 12th and 7th in Poland, respectively, and, what is more, 1st among natural science universities. In Europe, we rank 170th and 212th respectively.
