Next edition of Staff Week at UPWr

In mid-June, the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences hosted representatives from Ukrainian universities participating in the INTERACT 2.0 project. This year's edition saw two additional universities joining the group of 10 Ukrainian institutions: the National Aviation University from Kyiv and the Ivan Puluj National Technical University from Ternopil.

The INTERACT 2.0 project, funded by the National Academic Exchange Agency (NAWA), is a direct follow-up to the EU GREEN alliance. Its main goal is the integration and networking of Ukrainian partners with the EU GREEN European University consortium members.

During last year's edition of the project, the focus was on planning and consolidating inter-institutional cooperation. These intentions are now becoming a reality. Paulina Zaweracz, the EU GREEN project manager at UPWr, emphasized that this year's edition differed significantly from the previous one due to the active involvement of participants and their acquired skills and experiences.

The engagement of the participants resulted in a series of bilateral meetings where Ukrainian partners discussed details of further research, educational, and institutional cooperation. Consequently, numerous agreement projects defining joint activities were created.

This year's Staff Week was attended by 30 people who participated in a series of lectures, workshops, and presentations. Planned activities included a trip to the Center for Technological Innovation (CIT) in Pawłowice and workshops led by Dr. Seán McCarthy, a professor at University College Cork and managing director of Hyperion Ltd., an Irish company that develops training courses for scientists. These workshops were organized with the support of the EU GREEN Irish consortium member, Atlantic Technological University.

Dr. Anna Laskowska's presentations on the UPWr Research and Development Center, Małgorzata Członkowska-Naumiuk from the Foundation for the Development of the Education System on Erasmus+ partnerships, and Maria Hryceniak from the Recruitment Office on the procedures for admitting Ukrainian candidates to UPWr studies garnered significant interest. Oleksandr Fomichov concluded the event with a presentation on the opportunities for Ukrainian citizens to engage in the activities of international institutions.

The International Cooperation Department team, implementing the INTERACT 2.0 project, is already noting an increased number of inquiries about the activities planned in the project, such as scientific internships for Ukrainian scholars in EU GREEN institutions or the participation of Ukrainian students in the alliance's summer schools. We hope that the enthusiasm and energy of the Staff Week participants will contribute to strengthening existing ties and creating new, lasting networks that will result in international cooperation between Ukrainian universities and EU GREEN consortium members.
