New heads of scientific discipline councils have been appointed

The Rector of Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences has handed appointments to the new leaders of the scientific discipline councils.

The Rector of Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences, Professor Krzysztof Kubiak, has appointed newleaders of the scientific discipline councils for the 2024-2028 term.

The Chair of Civil Engineering, Geodesy, and Transport has once again been appointed to Professor Krzysztof Sośnica; Environmental Engineering, Mining, and Energy to Professor Justyna Hachoł; Biological Sciences to Professor Edyta Kostrzewa-Susłow; Agriculture and Horticulture to Professor Józef Sowiński; Food Technology and Nutrition to Professor Anna Dąbrowska; Veterinary Medicine to Professor Arkadiusz Miążek; Animal Science and Fisheries to Professor Heliodor Wierzbicki; Socio-Economic Geography and Spatial Management to Professor Jan Kazak; and Biotechnology to Professor Zbigniew Lazar.

The ceremony was also attended by the Vice-Rectors for Social and Economic Relations, Professor Szymon Szewrański, and for Science, Professor Andrzej Zachwieja. Both the Rector and the Vice-Rectors emphasized that the newly appointed leaders will face many challenges related to the evaluation of scientific disciplines, and wished them success and perseverance in their work.

The tasks of the scientific discipline councils include awarding academic degrees within the discipline, cooperating with the doctoral school, evaluating the progress in preparing doctoral dissertations in the given discipline at the doctoral school, contributing to the development of the discipline's strategy, particularly identifying priority problems and research directions, and contributing to the development of criteria for the periodic evaluation of academic staff.
