16ᵗʰ Student Activity Day
UPWr students once again showed what they’re made of. On 6 December, as part of the 16ᵗʰ Student Activity Day held in the main hall of the Centre for Teaching and Research, we could see, touch, and taste the results of a year’s worth of their efforts.
Student Activity Day, held once a year, is an event organized by UPWr where achievements of student reseach groups, creative groups and student organizations are presented. This year, in the main hall of the Centre for Teaching and Research, we could meet the representatives for 45 of those groups.
– Student’s activity at our university is our pride. We care about active students a lot because you’re the future of this university, this city, this region, and even this country – prof. Józef Sowiński, vice-rector for student affairs and education, stressed while giving his opening speech.
At the student research groups’ stands we could taste a vegan burger, gingerbread jigsaws, bean brownies, all sorts of muffins, and wash it all down with a beverage cooled with dry ice. The people participating in the event could also play floorball, jump a rope, hold a blattodea, a snake and a guinea pig, and those braver ones could also wrap a boa constrictor around their necks. There were hydraulic cranes, a laminar flow fountain, beer production technology, a solar flower, beekeeping, and bacterial growth media. Academic Song And Dance Ensamble ”Jedliniok” and Academic Dance Club of UPWr gave singing and dancing performances.
During the event awards were given to the best of students from research groups, athletes, organizers, and promoters. At the end, the most attractive student research stand was selected – the stand of Student Research Group of Hydrologists and Hydro Technicians. Also selected were: the most interesting picture promoting student activity, taken by Student Research Group of Zoologists and Ecologists, and the audience’s favorite, which also turned out to be the Student Research Group of Zoologists and Ecologists.
