Visit of Experts from E.A.E.V.E.

A group of experts from the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (E.A.E.V.E.) has visited our University. The main goal of the visit was to evaluate the teaching process of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

The evaluation was carried out for all the departments of the faculty and some of the cross-sectional departments. Practical classes gained particular attention from the evaluation team which visited places for practical classes such as: clinics and laboratories, breeding farms, veterinary clinics, butcheries and meat processing plants. Special attention focused on the lack of supervision of lecturers coming from other faculties, the limited scope of modern methods of teaching, too large groups of students in practical classes and too small groups in theoretical classes which results in the repetition of material by lecturers, the equipment of students for the “knowledge of the first day”, the lack of continued education, the drastically decreased rate of expensiveness of veterinary studies and the need for ministerial intervention on this issue. They also focused on the general level of the University and, above all, on the necessity of mentality change.
