UPWr among the world's top universities
Our university was listed among the world's best universities according to the latest "Global 2000" The Center for World University Ranking. UPWr was ranked 1783 out of more than 20,000 evaluated universities.
The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) is the most comprehensive global list of its kind. The ranking is the result of the centre’s own analyses and is not based on surveys or data collected by universities. CWUR has been publishing it since 2012. It’s based on eight criteria: success of graduates and teaching staff in international competitions, employment of graduates in leading roles of global companies, publications in respected scientific journals, citability, Hirsch index of the entire university and the number of international patents.
This year's Global 2000 list included the top 2,000 universities in the world out of 20,531 evaluated. First place went to Harvard University, and the best university in Europe was Cambridge University (4th in the world).
In the ranking, the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences was ranked 1783 in the world and 587 in Europe. It was also ranked 34th among Polish universities and research units (out of more than 400 evaluated).
– This is another ranking in which our university is visible, which is good news. This is because we have been systematically building the scientific position of our university for years. We are pleased with the clear trend: UPWr is becoming more and more noticeable and recognisable outside – says Professor Jarosław Bosy, rector of UPWr, adding that: – We are working on increasing the UPWr’s position in rankings, as well as improving research and teaching activities in a systematic, planned way, by investing in people, their competences, their mobility. A good university is one where there are many people who build its brand. Harvard is the best because it is constantly looking for, attracting and creating working conditions for the best in its field of science. What we are doing now at UPWr is trying to create an environment for the best. So we read detailed analyses of these lists, because that is one source of knowing what more we can do.
