Trade Fair in Kiev

Despite a very difficult political situation in Ukraine, Kiev hosted an International Educational Trade Fair, „Education Abroad” from 9th to 12th April 2014.

Once again, The University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wrocław presented its educational offering, encouraging people to take part in a programme called, „Teraz Wrocław”.

Apart from members of the „Teraz Wrocław” programme, there was also staff of the University of Wrocław and the University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wrocław. The Kiev trade fair was dominated by Polish Universities. The largest exhibitor promoting studying in Poland (as a part of the programme Ready, Study, Go!), was the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, which on the 11th April, established a Ukrainian version of the GO-POLAND portal. It was the fourth version of the portal, after the English, Portuguese and Russian ones. Other than the Ministry, there was also an Educational Foundation „Perspektywy” that was there to promote the offer of universities associated with the „Study in Poland” project. The largest Polish universities were also present – Warsaw University of Technology and Łódź University of Technology, as well as some recruitment agencies. There were also university representatives from Israel, Great Britain, Turkey and even Australia.

Of all the Polish exhibitors, the „Teraz Wrocław” stand attracted the most attention and interest. Previous graduates of the project promoted Wrocław to their Ukrainian counterparts. In all, the stand was visited by over a hundred candidates.

– Biology, zootechnics and economics aroused the most interest, together with admissions to second cycle studies. The enquiries were about the process of admission for foreign students, the required command of the Polish language and the cost of both studies and life in Wrocław – said Paulina Boroń-Kacperek, a director of the Information, Promotion and Admission Office, who was promoting the University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wrocław. – It should be admitted that the promotion received a warm reception, especially taking into account the current unstable political situation. Education in Poland constitutes a very safe alternative for many Ukrainians – she added.

Currently Ukrainian citizens make up the largest group of foreign students studying at Polish universities and this number is growing every year. Last year there were over 9,500 Ukrainian students studying at both public and private universities in Poland and this year, the number has already reached almost 15,000 – said Henryk Litwin in a meeting at the Polish Embassy in Kiev held as a result of the successful outcome of many long-term promotions.
