There was an exhibition in the Didactic and Scientific Center highlighting contributions from the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences in expanding the Bologna Process to countries in Middle Asia and Russia.

– Operating in only one academic school, we sometimes do not realize how important the processes taking place in educational systems are on a global scale. The market of educational services is still developing. Student’s intellects are also continually being developed in North America, the European Union, Russia and China – says Professor Piotr Nowakowski from the Faculty of Biology and Animal Science, and a participant in the AIDA program.

The Bologna Process is a product of the European Union, which helps to unify higher education. It is an important tool in allowing cooperation among academic schools across national, cultural and religious boarders. In 2007, the European Commission began implementing the Bologna Process in the Middle Asia. Apart from the political and economic actions, it is also an important tool in supporting the development of education and in promoting a European system of education. Russia is the leader of educational changes and implementation of Bologna Process principles. In 2010, Kazakhstan joined the European Higher Education Area. The pace of reforming the higher education system in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan is, however, a bit slower.

The program established in 2008 has already resulted in numerous meetings gathering ministry workers, academic schools authorities, didactic workers, students and employers in Europe as well as Asia and Russia. Among the biggest challenges has been reconciling the multicultural environments and the problems carried over from the previous era, which are still present in the educational systems of member countries. The workers of the University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wroclaw: Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences and Technology, Professor Józef Sowiński and Professor Piotr Nowakowski from the Faculty of Biology and Animal Science and Tomasz Haglauer from the International Relations Office, took part in different seminars. Apart from organizing a weeklong seminar in Wroclaw on the implementation of the Bologna Process in Poland, they also participated in seminars in Grenoble (France), L’Aquila (Italy), Jekaterinburg (Russia), Kostanay (Kazakhstan), Karakol (Kyrgyzstan), and Tashkent Samarkand and in Bukhara (Uzbekistan).

The exhibition in the hall of the Didactic-Scientific Center, which ran through the 3rd of February, presented the participation of the workers of Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences in the AIDA project “Building awareness, developing interest, creating needs and undertaking actions on behalf of promotion of the Bologna Process in countries of Middle Asia and Russia.” The purpose of the exhibition was to show the educational climate of meetings held in exotic academic circles in countries such as Kazakhstan.
