Erasmus programme anniversary
The Erasmus Programme, which is the largest programme in respect of international cooperation among European universities, celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2012. The university coordinators of the programme were awarded distinctions for their work and contributions.
Among those awarded was Jadwiga Bolechowska from the Office for International Programmes.
“The University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wrocław was one of the first universities in Poland to sign the Erasmus Contract, which allowed for participation in the programme. Since the beginning of exchanges, I have been our university coordinator for Erasmus”, said Jadwiga Bolechowska. “There is no student who would not know about the program. Erasmus has opened doors of European Universities for Polish students, and it allowed foreign students to get to know the University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wrocław, but above all it allowed them to see Poland”, added Bolechowska.
The University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wrocław cooperates with 98 other universities within the Erasmus Programme. During this time, over 700 students have studied abroad and 300 foreigners have studied at the university in Wrocław. In the last few years, the number of Polish students going abroad as well as the number of foreign students taking up studies at our university is growing. The students usually go to Spain and Portugal. The largest groups of foreign students at our university are from Spain, Greece and Turkey.
The competition was organized by the Foundation for the Development of the Education System, National Agency of "Lifelong Learning Programme" – Erasmus Programme. The ceremonial gala, where the awards were given, was held on November 23rd at Warsaw’s Copernicus Science Centre. The Erasmus Programme’s 25th anniversary celebrations were held under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Science and Higher Education.
