Erasmus Mundus MAYA-NET

The University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wrocław is a Polish partner in the project coordinated by the University L’Aquila in Italy. Representatives of universities participating in the consortium running the project met to discuss all of the details regarding the programme. The host of the conference, which took place on 22-24 October, was the Universidad del Magdalena in Columbia. Krzysztof Kafarski from the International Programmes Office represented the Wrocław school.

– The programme will take place between the years 2014-2018. The consortium has 120 scholarships for students of the first-, second- and third-cycle as well as for research and administrative workers. The first scholarships are planned for the academic year 2015/2016 – said Krzysztof Kafarski.

Scholarship holders will spend from 1 to 36 months at the partnership universities. The beneficiaries of the programme will be selected not only from the partnership schools but also from outside. Attractive financial grants are planned to cover the costs of travel, insurance and the stay.

– It is worth noticing that the University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wrocław is a very attractive location for students from Latin America. This is not only due to the rich offer of courses run in English but also because of the central location of Wrocław in Europe, relatively low costs of living in comparison with other European countries and the low level of crime, which is incomparably higher in Latin America – emphasized a Polish representative of the university in Columbia.

During the conference Krzysztof Kafarski presented a teaching offer from the University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wrocław prepared for foreign students.
