This is the first time that the results of developmental research, financed together with the European Union within the scope of the Operational Program – Innovative Economy (OP IE) has been implemented in the private economic sector. The agreement was preceded by the tender procedure won by the Wrocław Company Geotabo Ltd.

This is a groundbreaking moment of cooperation between scientific and business environments. Due to this large-scale, extensive, research it was possible to secure an investor interested in implementing this innovative technology supporting plant growth into mass production.

Water sorbing geocomposites is a technology, patented in Poland, which helps retain water in soil. This water is later utilized for plants. The invention was submitted for international protection in PCT mode. Doctor Krzysztof Lejcuś is a coordinator of the project.

Water sorbing geocomposites make it possible for plants to survive periods of water shortages or drought. Regarding plant production, it increases its efficiency and lowers water and fertilizer consumption. Such effects were obtained in the production of strawberries and decorative plants. This is the first solution of its type available on the market. The geocomposites, trade mark HydroBox; will be on sale in the spring.
